The Punjab Jagao Morcha held a coordination meeting on Wednesday in Ludhiana and announced its intention to strengthen its organizational network across the state while preparing to contest all 117 Assembly seats in the upcoming elections.
Alliance Background and Goals
Formed about a month ago by nine regional political and social organizations, the morcha aims to address the concerns of farmers, youth, ex-servicemen, and pensioners, and work towards the economic revival of Punjab.
The alliance includes the Jago Punjab Party, Lok Adhikar Lehar, Lok Adarsh Party, Jai Jawan Jai Kisan Party, Punjab Swabhiman Party, Ex Army Welfare Committee, Punjab Pensioners Association, Punjab Sanjha Morcha, and Rashtriya Kisan Sangathan.
Leadership Statements
Addressing party workers, Brigadier Harwant Singh (retd), president of the Jago Punjab Party and convener of the morcha, stated that the alliance was created to provide a platform for people who feel their concerns have been ignored by mainstream political parties. He emphasized the need for a collective voice to address pressing issues such as agrarian distress, unemployment, and pension reforms.
The morcha plans to expand its base by reaching out to grassroots workers and organizing public meetings across all districts. Leaders stressed that the alliance would focus on transparent governance and accountability.
With the Assembly elections approaching, the Punjab Jagao Morcha aims to offer an alternative to traditional parties, promising to prioritize the welfare of common citizens and the state's economic development.
