Punjab Releases Rs 213 Crore Under Rangla Punjab Scheme
Punjab Releases Rs 213Cr for Development Works

In a significant move to boost rural and urban development, Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema announced on Thursday that the state government has released the first installment of Rs 213 crore under the ambitious Rangla Punjab Scheme. This initial disbursement is part of the total Rs 585 crore allocated for the program introduced in the annual budget.

Massive Funding for Development Projects

Addressing journalists during a press conference, Cheema revealed that the scheme has earmarked Rs 5 crore for development works in every assembly constituency across Punjab. The minister emphasized that the government has established special committees comprising MLAs and government officials to ensure proper utilization of these development funds.

Based on proposals submitted by these committees, the first installment of Rs 213 crore has been released to various panchayats, marking a crucial step in the government's development agenda. This systematic approach ensures that funds are allocated based on genuine needs and well-planned projects.

Comprehensive Development Strategy

Cheema highlighted that this release follows another significant development fund disbursement where Rs 334 crore was recently released to panchayats, zila parishads, and panchayat samitis. The minister firmly stated that the government is committed to comprehensive development that leaves no village, town, or city behind in Punjab's growth story.

The development vision extends beyond basic infrastructure. In a major push for sports development, over 3,000 stadiums are being constructed across Punjab to nurture athletic talent and provide youth with facilities that could potentially help them reach Olympic-level competitions.

Infrastructure Boost Across Punjab

Alongside sports infrastructure, the state is witnessing massive road network expansion. The finance minister announced that 19,000 kilometres of roads are being built to strengthen connectivity and transportation infrastructure throughout Punjab.

This multi-pronged approach under the Rangla Punjab Scheme demonstrates the government's commitment to holistic development, addressing everything from local constituency needs to state-level infrastructure projects that will benefit citizens across urban and rural areas.
