Progressive Punjab Investors' Summit 2026 Launches with Major Investment Commitments
The Progressive Punjab Investors' Summit 2026 commenced in Mohali on Friday, marking a significant milestone for the state's economic landscape. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government announced that the opening day alone garnered investment commitments exceeding Rs 10,000 crore, with prominent industry leaders unveiling expansion plans in Punjab.
Chief Minister Mann Highlights Industrial Boost and Local Success
Speaking at the summit, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann emphasized the state's proactive approach to industrial development. "In a major boost to the industrial development of the state, the Punjab government has successfully attracted leading industries to invest here," he stated. "It is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction that on the very first day, we secured investments worth more than Rs 10,000 crore."
Major corporations such as HMEL, Tata Steel, JSW, Trident Group, and Hero Industries were among those announcing plans to establish or expand ventures in Punjab. Mann described the summit as the beginning of a new phase focused on economic growth, employment generation, and industrial expansion. "Punjab is positioning itself as a prime investment destination with faster approvals, pro-industry policies, and a strong emphasis on education, healthcare, and skilled manpower," he added.
Showcasing Local Entrepreneurship and Open Policies
Mann cited local enterprises like Sonalika, Preet Tractors, Duke, and Monte Carlo as shining examples of Punjab's entrepreneurial spirit. "The doors of Punjab are open to all investors, and we welcome them with a red carpet," he declared. "Our policies are flexible and designed to meet the needs of industry. I urge everyone to invest here, create jobs for Punjabis, and help write a new success story."
To support this vision, the state government is aligning skill education and training with industry requirements. "Whatever the industry requires, the government will ensure that the youth receive the necessary training," Mann assured. This initiative aims to create a robust pool of skilled manpower, fostering employment opportunities and accelerating economic growth.
Beyond MOUs: Fostering Innovation and Knowledge Sharing
Mann stressed that the summit transcends mere memorandum of understanding (MOU) signings. "This event is not just about signing documents; it's about sharing knowledge, brainstorming, and learning from each other," he explained. Highlighting a shift towards innovation, he noted, "Punjab is now at the threshold of transitioning towards a new culture of innovation and technology-driven enterprise. Our youth are brimming with new ideas, and it is our responsibility to support them."
Kejriwal Praises Punjab's Patriotic and Entrepreneurial Spirit
AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal also addressed the summit, lauding Punjab's historical contributions and business acumen. "Punjab is the land of patriots who made the highest sacrifices in the freedom struggle, and today, it boasts the largest number of Punjabis serving in our armed forces," he said. "Entrepreneurship runs in the blood here. There's a joke that if humans ever live on the moon, the first establishment will be a 'Punjabi dhaba'."
The summit underscores Punjab's commitment to revitalizing its economy through strategic investments, policy reforms, and a focus on skill development, setting the stage for sustained industrial growth and job creation in the coming years.
