Rajasthan Assembly Budget Session Schedule Finalized with Key Dates
The Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly convened on Monday and officially established the timeline for the ongoing Budget Session. In a significant decision, the committee confirmed that the Rajasthan Finance Bill, 2026, and the Rajasthan Appropriation Bill, 2026, will be presented for comprehensive discussion and final passage on February 27. This date is set to mark the formal conclusion of the current legislative session.
Shorter Session Attributed to Upcoming Electoral Calendar
Insiders familiar with the proceedings indicated that the abbreviated duration of this Budget Session is a direct consequence of the impending local body elections slated for the months of March and April. The need to accommodate the electoral process has necessitated a more condensed legislative timetable. The pivotal meeting was presided over by the Assembly Speaker, Vasudev Devnani, who oversaw the finalization of the agenda.
Detailed Legislative Agenda for Key February Dates
The Assembly has outlined a precise schedule for the critical debates and votes leading up to the budget's passage:
- February 20 and 21: The House will engage in detailed debates and conduct voting on the demands for grants for various government departments.
- February 21: In addition to grant discussions, members of the legislative assembly are scheduled to deliberate on the government's two-year progress report, covering the period from 2024–25 to 2025–26. This provides a platform for assessing administrative performance.
- February 23 to February 26: The Assembly will continue its rigorous schedule with further deliberations and voting on the remaining budgetary demands. According to an official statement released by the Vidhan Sabha, "Any pending demands will be put to vote on February 26," ensuring all financial allocations are settled before the final day.
This structured approach ensures a focused examination of the state's financial blueprint while adhering to the compressed timeline imposed by the electoral cycle. The passage of the Finance and Appropriation Bills on February 27 will formally enact the state budget for the forthcoming fiscal year.
