Rajasthan Ready for Local Body Elections: Minister Kharra

Ajmer: The state government is fully prepared to conduct local and panchayat raj elections, but the final decision rests with the election commission, announced Jhabar Singh Kharra, the Minister of State for Urban Development and Self-Governance, on Saturday.

High Court Directive and Government Readiness

Kharra emphasized that the state government is ready to assist the election commission in implementing the Rajasthan High Court's directive regarding local body elections. He stated, "The direction given by the Rajasthan High Court is to be implemented by the state election commission, and the government is ready to assist the commission in conducting the local bodies elections. The state commission is currently studying the high court's directions."

Recently, the Jaipur bench of the Rajasthan High Court ordered the conduct of local body elections and set a deadline of July 31 to complete the election process.

Foundation Stone for Convention Centre

During his visit to Ajmer on Saturday, Kharra laid the foundation stone for a convention centre at Jhalkari Bai Smarak. The project is estimated to cost Rs 28 crore, with Rs 6 crore contributed by the Ajmer Development Authority. The centre will be developed on 3.2 hectares of land and will have the capacity to accommodate 1,400 people. It will be equipped with the latest technology to serve various communities.

The event was attended by State Assembly Speaker and Ajmer North MLA Vasudev Devnani, as well as Union Minister of State for Agriculture Bhagirath Choudhary.

Greenfield Expressway Update

Kharra also provided an update on the greenfield expressway between Kotputli and Kishangarh, stating that it will be completed soon. He mentioned that earlier hurdles related to alignment have been resolved and will be cleared shortly.
