Ranchi Implements Comprehensive Traffic Restrictions for Upcoming Religious Festivals

The Ranchi Traffic Department has announced extensive vehicular movement controls across multiple city areas in preparation for two major religious events this week. The restrictions are being implemented to accommodate the Ram Navami processions scheduled for Thursday and the idol immersion ceremony for Chaiti Goddess Durga on Saturday.

Detailed Schedule of Vehicle Prohibitions

According to official notices released on Monday, heavy vehicles will face complete entry bans during specific timeframes. From 4:00 PM on Thursday until 6:00 AM on Friday, and again from 8:00 AM until midnight on Saturday, all heavy commercial vehicles will be prohibited from entering the city limits. These goods-carrying vehicles must instead utilize the ring roads to reach their destinations.

Additional restrictions target smaller commercial vehicles, which will be barred from city movement between 5:00 PM and midnight on Thursday. This comprehensive approach aims to minimize congestion during peak procession hours.

Specific Route Closures and Alternative Arrangements

The traffic department has identified numerous key intersections and corridors where vehicle movement will be strictly regulated:

  • On Thursday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 AM, autos, totos, municipal corporation buses, and general vehicles will be forbidden on roads approaching Upper Bazaar from Kishori Yadav Chowk, Mahabir Mandir Chowk, Subhas Chowk, and Saheed Chowk.
  • Friday will see restrictions from 1:00 PM until the conclusion of Ram Navami processions on roads leading from Kishori Yadav Chowk, Saheed Chowk, and Subhas Chowk toward Upper Bazaar.
  • Multiple additional routes will experience temporary closures, including the stretch from SSP office to Saheed Chowk, Zakir Hussain Park to Radium Chowk, old corporation building to commissioner's Chowk, and several other critical intersections throughout the city.

Police Deployment and Traffic Management Strategy

Traffic SP Rakesh Singh emphasized that while the department has provided specific schedules, vehicle movement will be dynamically regulated based on actual procession progress and crowd gatherings. "The entire strength of district traffic police, supplemented by additional deployments, will be mobilized to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety during these important religious observances," Singh stated.

The department's proactive planning reflects recognition of the significant public participation expected during both events. By implementing staggered restrictions and designating alternative routes, authorities aim to balance religious observance requirements with minimal disruption to regular city mobility.

Residents and visitors are advised to plan their travel carefully, consider using public transportation where available, and allow extra time for journeys during the restricted periods. The traffic department will provide real-time updates through official channels as the festival events progress.
