A 60-year-old man was allegedly shot dead in the Didarganj police station area of Patna on Saturday morning. The victim, identified as Rampravesh Singh, was a rental car driver and a resident of Sonwa village under the Fatuha police station area. According to police, the motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained.

Investigation Underway

Upon receiving information about the incident, Fatuha sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Awadhesh Kumar and Didarganj SHO Sunil Kumar arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. The body was sent to Nalanda Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination. A forensic science laboratory (FSL) team and a dog squad were also deployed to the spot, where they recovered one empty bullet shell.

The SDPO stated that the post-mortem report would confirm the exact number of bullets fired. “Multiple angles are being probed as the motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained,” he added.

Victim’s Background

According to police, Singh had remarried after the death of his first wife. He had no children from either marriage and is survived by three brothers. “His family background and personal life are also being examined to establish the motive,” Kumar said. The SHO confirmed that CCTV footage from the surrounding areas is being reviewed to identify the assailants.

Heightened Tension in the Area

The incident has heightened tension in the region, following another murder earlier in the week. On Thursday night, in Kothiya village, four individuals allegedly called Harsh Kumar out of his house and shot him dead. Police have intensified investigation and patrolling in the Didarganj-Fatuha region.
