The Royapuram assembly constituency in north Chennai has transformed into a significant political battleground ahead of the Tamil Nadu assembly elections scheduled for April 23, with vote counting set for May 4. This coastal constituency, long considered an AIADMK stronghold under veteran leader D Jayakumar for over three decades, experienced a dramatic political shift in 2021 when it swung to the DMK.
