Himachal Pradesh Speaker Pathania Announces Major Road Infrastructure Push in Bhattiyat

Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania has laid the foundation stone for a significant road project in the Bhattiyat constituency of Chamba district, highlighting the state government's commitment to improving connectivity in remote areas. The initiative is part of a broader development plan aimed at fostering balanced regional growth.

New Link Road to Enhance Local Accessibility

During a public gathering on Sunday, Pathania inaugurated the construction of a 3.7-kilometer link road connecting Jajdi to Bhatuin in the Malunda gram panchayat. This project, with an estimated cost of Rs 86 lakh, is designed to benefit residents of several villages, including Chelela Dhanodi, Kut, Kutla Jukani, Bhatuin, Badei, and Bhadrada. The Speaker emphasized that roads are fundamental to progress, stating that this new route will facilitate easier transportation and eventually link to Sela and Maithla villages.

Comprehensive Road Network Expansion Underway

Pathania revealed that according to the development blueprint for Bhattiyat, Public Works Department (PWD) projects totaling Rs 146 crore are currently in progress. Of this amount, approximately Rs 30 crore is allocated for seven roads that will connect villages across Malunda, Turkda, Kudnu, Banet, and Gahar gram panchayats. He noted that around 80 kilometers of roads have already been completed in the area, with further expansions planned.

PMGSY Phase-IV to Boost Rural Connectivity

In addition to ongoing works, the Speaker announced that 12 new link roads, covering nearly 70 kilometers, have been approved under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) Phase-IV. This scheme involves a proposed expenditure of Rs 115.73 crore, aimed at enhancing rural infrastructure and accessibility.

Water Supply Projects Complement Road Development

Pathania also shared details about concurrent initiatives by the Jal Shakti Department, with 46 projects worth Rs 365 crore being implemented in the Bhattiyat region. Specifically, works valued at about Rs 54 crore are underway in the Chuwari area and various gram panchayats such as Malunda, Jatrun, Kudnu, Gahar, Banet, Awan, and Parchod, ensuring holistic development.

Upcoming High-Profile Visit and Future Projects

The Speaker hinted at an upcoming visit by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to Chamba district, where he is expected to dedicate development projects worth Rs 400 crore and lay foundation stones for new initiatives valued at Rs 250 crore. This underscores the government's ongoing efforts to prioritize infrastructure and public welfare in Himachal Pradesh.
