Murder Over Rs 20 Note in Lucknow Park
A seemingly trivial dispute over a Rs 20 note escalated into a gruesome murder in Lucknow on Tuesday afternoon. The incident took place in Maharaja Agrasen Park located in the Bazaarkhala area, where two intoxicated men ended up in a fatal confrontation.
Sequence of Events
The victim, Vijay Gautam (40), a resident of Sanjay Nagar, worked at a shop in Maulviganj that specialized in filling quilts and mattresses. On the day of the incident, Vijay and his acquaintance Pintu, a resident of Pandey Talab, were consuming alcohol together. They walked into the park with their arms draped over each other's shoulders, appearing friendly. However, while drinking and eating inside the park, a heated argument erupted over a Rs 20 note.
According to police reports, Pintu attacked Vijay repeatedly with a wooden stick, inflicting severe head and facial injuries. The assault was so brutal that Vijay died on the spot. Investigators noted that one of Vijay's eyes was dislodged and the other was sunken due to the impact. Blood stains were found on the ground and on an iron bench within the park.
Investigation and Arrest
Despite the attack lasting nearly 20 minutes, no one present in the vicinity intervened or alerted authorities. After the murder, Pintu fled the scene and was later found drinking at a liquor shop in Aishbagh. Police traced him using CCTV footage and detained him at the shop. An FIR has been lodged based on a complaint from the victim's mother, and the body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact motive and any other details surrounding the incident.
