Chandigarh: Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia on Sunday slammed the Bhagwant Mann government for withdrawing the security cover of Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MPs Ashok Mittal and Harbhajan Singh after they defected to the Bharatiya Janata Party. Majithia stated that the Mann government had put their lives at risk.
"It is extremely shameful that individuals who earlier enjoyed extensive security while being associated with AAP have been left without protection after joining the BJP," said the Akali leader.
He also said, "Those who played for the country and created jobs for Punjabis cannot be called traitors." "Protests being held against these MPs are being orchestrated by the AAP to defame them and falsely project the reaction as public anger," Majithia added.
The senior leader said, "Punjabis have no concern with seven Rajya Sabha members joining the BJP, as they were not elected by the public but sent to the Upper House by the AAP."
"Graffiti branding individuals as 'traitors' are being deliberately put up outside their houses and police are acting as mute spectators, endangering their lives," he added.
