Satinder Singh New Police Commissioner of Jalandhar

Satinder Singh has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Police for Jalandhar, succeeding Dhanpreet Kaur, who served in the role for approximately 15 months. Kaur, a 2006-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, has been transferred to serve as the Director of the Punjab Police Academy in Phillaur. She made history as the first woman to hold the position of Police Commissioner in Jalandhar.

Satinder Singh's Background

Satinder Singh previously served as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Ludhiana Range. His career includes stints as DIG of the Border Range and as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) for Amritsar Rural. His father, Swaran Singh, also had a distinguished career in the police force, serving as SSP of Jagraon in the 1990s. Satinder Singh is known to have close ties with the Dera Baba Murad Shah in Nakodar.
