In a significant political statement, the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has strongly criticized the judiciary for what it calls creating law and order problems. The party's state president, Nellai Mubarak, made these remarks while addressing a conference organized by the party's women's wing in Madurai on Saturday.
Courts Criticized, Government Praised
Speaking to reporters after the event, Mubarak expressed his party's firm stance. He condemned the perceived role of courts in disrupting public order, suggesting that judicial interventions were sometimes leading to unnecessary complications on the ground.
Shifting focus to a local issue, he commended the actions of the Tamil Nadu government regarding the tradition at Thiruparankundram. Mubarak emphasized that the long-standing tradition there should continue without interference. He quoted local sentiments, stating that residents live in close harmony like relatives, and it is the duty of both the government and every Tamilian to protect this social fabric.
Warning Against Divisive Politics
Mubarak issued a stark warning against attempts to divide people along religious lines. He asserted that such efforts, which he implied were being made by certain forces, would not succeed in Tamil Nadu. He specifically cautioned that approaching the Thiruparankundram issue with a religious lens would have negative consequences for everyone involved.
Taking a direct aim at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the SDPI leader labeled it as the "evil force" in India. He confidently predicted that the BJP would not secure victory in Tamil Nadu, highlighting the state's distinct political landscape.
Electoral Ambitions and Assembly Voice
Looking ahead to the upcoming Tamil Nadu legislative assembly election, Mubarak unveiled the party's ambitious campaign slogan: 'Our vote in every house'. This slogan underscores the SDPI's goal of expanding its voter base and making a significant impact in the state's politics.
He proclaimed that the party's voice would resonate powerfully within the assembly halls, indicating the SDPI's determination to become a more influential player in Tamil Nadu's governance and legislative processes following the elections.
