Congress leader and former Union Minister Kumari Selja on Tuesday pulled up officials for neglecting civic issues in Fatehabad town. She expressed strong displeasure over the poor state of basic amenities, including water supply, sanitation, and road conditions.
Inspection of Wards
Selja, accompanied by local party workers, visited several wards in the town and interacted with residents. She noted that many areas lacked proper drainage systems, leading to waterlogging during rains. Residents also complained of irregular water supply and overflowing sewers.
Action Plan Demanded
Addressing a meeting of municipal officials, Selja demanded a concrete action plan to resolve these issues within a week. She warned that if no improvement was seen, she would escalate the matter to higher authorities. The officials assured her of swift action.
Selja also directed the officials to expedite road repair works and ensure cleanliness in public spaces. She emphasized that civic bodies must be accountable to the public.
Political Reactions
The local BJP leaders, however, accused Selja of doing politics over civic issues. They claimed that the Congress government had earlier neglected Fatehabad's development. Selja retorted that the BJP should focus on governance rather than making excuses.
Residents of Fatehabad expressed hope that Selja's intervention would lead to tangible improvements. Many said they had been facing these problems for months without any response from the authorities.
