TVK Leader Sengottaiyan Reveals He Offered CM Post to EPS After Jayalalithaa
Sengottaiyan: I Offered CM Post to EPS After Jayalalithaa

Political Revelation Shakes Tamil Nadu Politics

In a significant disclosure that sheds new light on Tamil Nadu's political history, TVK chief coordinator KA Sengottaiyan revealed on Friday that he had personally requested AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami to accept the chief minister's position following the demise of J Jayalalithaa.

Historical Political Offer Unveiled

Speaking during his maiden public address at his native Gobichettipalayam constituency, Sengottaiyan made the stunning revelation that the chief minister's opportunity had initially come to him, but he proposed EPS for the prestigious role instead. "I had proposed AIADMK general secretary EPS for the post of general secretary and even for chief minister. I asked him to accept the opportunity that had come to me," Sengottaiyan stated emphatically.

The veteran politician highlighted his electoral track record, noting that he had won nine times as an MLA, while emphasizing that EPS had not been able to secure victory even once as a chief ministerial candidate. This comparison underscored his political experience and electoral success within the state.

Expanding Political Footprint and Alliances

Sengottaiyan dropped several important political announcements during his address, indicating significant developments within Tamil Nadu's political landscape. He confirmed that more former ministers are expected to join TVK soon, signaling potential defections from other parties.

In a statement that strengthened ongoing political speculations, Sengottaiyan declared that a strong alliance will be formed by December. This announcement has particularly fueled rumors about a potential tie-up between AMMK and TVK, suggesting major realignments in Tamil Nadu politics.

Expressing strong support for actor-turned-politician Vijay, Sengottaiyan made bold predictions about the political future. "Vijay will come to power for sure. I will dedicate myself to make him the chief minister. No force could stop the movement's growing strength among the people," he asserted with confidence.

Massive Public Reception and Political Symbolism

The political leader received a rousing reception at Gobichettipalayam from his TVK cadres and personal supporters, demonstrating his continued popularity in his home constituency. Earlier, he had been accorded a grand welcome at Coimbatore airport, indicating his significant political stature.

During his Chennai address, Sengottaiyan drew important political parallels, stating that Vijay was travelling on the path of MGR, which would ultimately lead him to victory. The visual symbolism reinforced this message, with Vijay's vehicle carrying images of both MGR and C N Annadurai, clearly indicating his political lineage within the Dravidian movement.

Sengottaiyan provided historical context to his political journey, explaining that the Dravidian movement was shaped by three generations. He revealed that he had worked first under the leadership of MGR and then Jayalalithaa, and now considers Vijay as the third generation of the Dravidian movement.

Responding to questions about keeping photos of MGR and Jayalalithaa in his shirt pocket, Sengottaiyan emphasized that TVK's democratic ethos allowed such personal choices. The new board erected at his Gobichettipalayam office prominently featured the images of MGR and Jayalalithaa alongside Vijay, symbolizing the continuity of political legacy.
