Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Tuesday said that world leaders now visit Bengaluru before Delhi, recalling a statement by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Speaking at the 28th Convocation of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Shivakumar highlighted the transformation of Karnataka's capital into a global destination.
"I remember when Vajpayee ji said that one day world leaders will come to Bengaluru before Delhi. Today, that has become a reality," Shivakumar said. He attributed the growth to the state's focus on education, technology, and healthcare.
The convocation ceremony saw degrees conferred upon thousands of graduates. Shivakumar urged students to contribute to the state's development. "Karnataka is a model for the nation. Your skills will drive progress," he added.
Shivakumar also noted the influx of global investments and diplomatic visits to Bengaluru. "From tech summits to health conferences, Bengaluru is now a preferred destination," he said. The event underscored the university's role in producing skilled healthcare professionals.
