Bengaluru: Despite the advice of D K Shivakumar against displaying banners, his fans are in no mood to listen. Owners of flex and banner printing services in the city were flooded with orders, with many receiving them in the hundreds.
Massive Demand for Banners
Printing shops across Bengaluru reported a surge in orders for flex hoardings and banners welcoming the designate Chief Minister D K Shivakumar ahead of his swearing-in ceremony. Many businesses noted that orders came in bulk, often reaching hundreds per shop.
The display of these banners was visible on Dr Ambedkar Veedi in Bengaluru on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, as seen in a photograph by DH Photo B K Janardhan.
Shivakumar's Advisory Ignored
D K Shivakumar had earlier advised his supporters not to put up banners or flexes, urging them to avoid unnecessary expenditure and environmental waste. However, the enthusiasm of his followers seems to have overshadowed his request.
Shivakumar, a prominent leader in Karnataka politics, is set to take oath as the Chief Minister. His supporters view the banner display as a mark of respect and celebration, despite the leader's own caution.
The trend reflects the deep emotional connection between Shivakumar and his fan base, who are eager to express their joy through traditional means of celebration.
