AAP Leader Manish Sisodia Calls for Grassroots Mobilization in Himachal Pradesh
Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia launched a sharp critique against the BJP-led Central Government during a recent address in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. He accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of misusing central investigative agencies to deliberately stall the political growth of AAP in the state.
Allegations of Political Vendetta and Agency Misuse
Sisodia claimed that the rising popularity of AAP ahead of previous Assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh prompted targeted actions by agencies such as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED). He alleged that the arrests of key leaders, including himself and Satyendra Jain, were politically motivated efforts to weaken the party's momentum. Sisodia also pointed to the arrest of AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal as part of what he described as a broader pattern of political vendetta aimed at suppressing opposition voices.
Appeal for Unity and Grassroots Preparation
Addressing a gathering of party workers from across Himachal Pradesh, Sisodia emphasized the need for unity, ideological clarity, and robust grassroots mobilization in preparation for upcoming electoral battles. He appealed to leaders and workers from other political parties to join AAP if they are genuinely committed to the state's development, highlighting the party's governance model in Delhi as an inspiration.
Critique of BJP and Congress Governance
Sisodia accused both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress of failing to deliver significant progress in Himachal Pradesh across critical sectors such as education, healthcare, employment, and economic growth. He remarked that while governments have changed over the years, the beneficiaries have merely shifted from BJP leaders to Congress leaders, alleging widespread corruption and mismanagement that has hindered the state's development.
Personal Experience and Broader Political Struggle
Reflecting on his own legal battles, Sisodia shared that he spent 18 months in jail on what he termed "false charges," noting that courts have found no substantial basis for the allegations against him. He framed his imprisonment as part of a larger struggle against what he called "authoritarian politics," asserting that true patriotism lies in building good schools, hospitals, and creating job opportunities rather than engaging in political repression.
Focus on Long-Term Goals and Party Mission
Urging AAP workers to prioritize long-term objectives over personal ambitions, Sisodia stressed that the party's mission is to transform Himachal Pradesh by improving public services and creating opportunities for the youth. He advised the gathering not to aim for positions like MLAs or ministers but to focus on building a better Himachal through sustained grassroots efforts and community engagement.
Future Commitments and Organizational Strengthening
Reaffirming his dedication to the state, Sisodia announced plans to dedicate more time to Himachal Pradesh after the conclusion of the Punjab elections. He promised to work on strengthening the party's organizational structure and preparing comprehensively for the upcoming political contests, marking his first visit to the state since his release from jail. This visit follows his previous engagement in Himachal during the 2022 Assembly elections, underscoring AAP's ongoing focus on expanding its presence in the region.
