Six-Vehicle Pileup on Thane Flyover Leaves Tempo Driver Seriously Injured
Six-Vehicle Crash on Thane Flyover, Driver Injured

Thane: A 22-year-old tempo driver sustained serious injuries after he apparently lost control of his vehicle while descending the Nitin Company flyover on the Mumbai-Nashik Highway, leading to a rear-end collision involving six vehicles earlier this week. The incident brought traffic to a standstill for some time on one of the city's busiest arterial routes connecting Ghodbunder and Samruddhi Highway with Mumbai.

Accident Details

The accident was reported around 1 pm when Sheikh Shabir Mahmood was driving the tempo and descending the bridge. According to a police official, there was less traffic on the flyover, which likely caused the tempo to speed. However, vehicles at the spot where the flyover ended were moving bumper to bumper. The tempo driver failed to control his vehicle and rear-ended another tempo moving ahead, which in turn collided with several other vehicles in front.

Injuries and Response

The driver sustained serious injuries to his limbs and was shifted to a Thane government hospital for treatment. Traffic on the highway was disrupted for a considerable period as authorities worked to clear the scene.
