A resident of Shimla Manjhidih village in Deoghar district, Jharkhand, was arrested on Thursday on charges of beating his septuagenarian father to death over a financial disagreement a day earlier, police said.
Victim and Accused Identified
The deceased has been identified as 70-year-old Mulind Hembrom. His son, Lukhiram Hembrom, 42, has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Details of the Incident
According to ASI Shetlal Barla of Chitra police station, Mulind and Lukhiram had a long-standing dispute over money-related issues. On Wednesday night, an argument broke out between them, which quickly escalated into a violent confrontation. In a fit of rage, Lukhiram allegedly assaulted his father, leaving him critically injured.
Family members and villagers rushed the injured man to Sarath Community Health Centre (CHC), where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Arrest and Confession
“The accused son has been arrested. He has confessed to the crime. Preliminary investigation suggests that the incident stemmed from a family dispute, though all aspects of the incident are being thoroughly probed,” the ASI added.
The police are continuing their investigation to uncover any additional motives or circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
