The Samajwadi Party on Friday organized a tribute meeting at its party office in Lucknow to commemorate the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh. On behalf of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, party national secretary Rajendra Chaudhary offered floral tributes to the late leader. State president Shyam Lal Pal also paid homage during the event.
Remembering a Champion of Farmers
Recalling the contributions of the former Prime Minister, Akhilesh Yadav stated that Chaudhary Charan Singh dedicated his entire life to the welfare of farmers, laborers, and the underprivileged. He emphasized that the veteran leader took several landmark decisions in the interest of the farming community, with the abolition of the zamindari system being among his most historic achievements.
“Farmers continue to regard Chaudhary Charan Singh as their messiah, and his contribution towards safeguarding their interests will always be remembered,” Akhilesh said.
SP's Commitment to Farmers
Akhilesh Yadav affirmed that his party remains steadfast in protecting farmers’ interests by following the ideals and path shown by Chaudhary Charan Singh. He recalled that the SP government had declared 2016 as the “Kisan Varsh” (Year of Farmers) in honor of the former Prime Minister. He added that whenever the SP formed a government in Uttar Pradesh, it prioritized the welfare of villages and farmers.
