A tragic accident occurred in Hazaribag district on Friday night when a speeding pick-up van plowed into a group of people sitting in the courtyard outside a marriage pandal, resulting in the deaths of two women and a minor girl, according to police reports.
Incident Details
The incident took place at Kamlujara village under the Bishnugarh police station limits. The deceased were identified as Murti Devi (35), Dashmi Devi (33), and her three-year-old daughter Alina Kumari. All three were residents of Kausi village in Narayanpur block of Bokaro district. The injured included Rakesh Kisku, Kanti Devi, and Usha Devi.
Officer in-charge of Bishnugarh police station, Subhash Kumar Singh, stated that the victims had come to attend the wedding ceremony at the residence of Kishore Besra. Around 9 pm, while they were seated in the courtyard, a pick-up van bearing registration number JH02BD 5775 crashed into them. The van subsequently collided with the courtyard wall.
Legal Action and Medical Response
A case was registered based on a complaint filed by Mohan Kisku. The van driver and three others injured in the incident were admitted to a local hospital. The driver was later referred to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi for further treatment. The bodies of the deceased were sent to Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examinations.
Bishnugarh SDPO BN Prasad confirmed that the vehicle has been seized and an investigation is underway.
