Chennai's Chief Minister M. K. Stalin marked the birth anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar with a significant push for social welfare, personally overseeing the distribution of substantial financial assistance and inaugurating new infrastructure projects. The event, organized by the state's Adi Dravidar department, served as a platform to reiterate the government's core philosophy of equitable development.
Massive Financial Disbursement and Infrastructure Inauguration
During the Saturday programme, Chief Minister Stalin disbursed welfare assistance totalling a massive ₹265.50 crore to 9,371 beneficiaries from marginalized communities. This direct financial support is a cornerstone of the administration's outreach. Simultaneously, he inaugurated newly constructed buildings that were developed at a cost of ₹74.20 crore, enhancing the physical infrastructure dedicated to welfare and administrative services.
Stalin emphasized that every scheme under his Dravidian model government is meticulously designed and implemented with the singular objective of uplifting the oppressed and marginalized sections of society. He stated that special focus, detailed planning, and concerted effort are invested in each initiative to ensure it effectively reaches its intended beneficiaries.
Inspiring the Youth: Kabaddi Coach as a Role Model
A poignant moment of the event was the CM's recognition of special guest Manathi P. Ganesan, a renowned kabaddi coach. Stalin applauded Ganesan for breaking socio-economic barriers and achieving great success through self-belief, despite hailing from a remote village. The CM expressed his desire for students and young beneficiaries of government schemes to draw inspiration from such figures.
"Like him, I wish students and young people benefitting from govt schemes to achieve big in their respective fields and shine as role models," Stalin said. He added that the government would act upon a few requests presented by Coach Ganesan, further demonstrating its responsive approach.
A Vision for Equitable Access and Rising Enrollment
The Chief Minister framed the day's event as a crucial milestone in a continuous journey toward progress. "Today's event should be the next step in our journey. Every step we take must become a milestone in our path towards progress," he remarked. He articulated a clear vision of ensuring equitable access and opportunity for all, particularly for those historically denied such chances.
Highlighting the tangible outcomes of this policy, Stalin pointed out that the number of students from oppressed communities gaining entry into premier educational institutions has seen a steady increase under his administration. He listed several welfare schemes run by the Adi Dravidar department aimed at supporting school and college students, youth, and women, underscoring a multi-faceted approach to empowerment.
In his concluding remarks, the CM reaffirmed his government's unwavering commitment to translating its vision of social justice into a lived reality for every citizen of Tamil Nadu.
