CM Stalin Inaugurates 31.45 Crore College Buildings and Urban Amenities in Kolathur

Chief Minister M K Stalin inaugurated new buildings at the Arulmigu Kapaleeswarar Arts and Science College in Kolathur, Chennai, on Monday. The construction of these facilities was completed at a significant cost of 31.45 crore rupees, marking a major investment in educational infrastructure for the region.

Multiple Inaugurations and Beneficiary Support

In addition to the college buildings, Stalin inaugurated several other urban amenities aimed at enhancing public welfare. These included an air-conditioned bus stop designed to provide comfort to commuters, a roadside park on Sembium Red Hills Road for recreational use, a fair price shop to ensure affordable access to essential goods, and an integrated child development centre building focused on early childhood care and education.

Furthermore, the chief minister distributed free house site pattas to 2,007 beneficiaries, a move intended to support housing security for underprivileged families in the area. This initiative is part of broader efforts to address urban poverty and improve living conditions.

Educational Benefits and Employment Success

During the inauguration ceremony, Stalin highlighted the college's development by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) department, emphasizing that it will benefit students from various parts of Chennai. "This institution is set to become a hub for academic excellence, catering to the educational needs of our youth," he stated.

The chief minister also noted impressive employment outcomes, with 516 students from the college securing jobs through campus placements within just a few years of its establishment. To build on this success and further enhance employability, a 'chief minister's creative centre' has been established at the college. This centre is equipped with high-speed internet and is designed to foster innovation and skill development among students.

Constituency Development and Statewide Initiatives

Stalin outlined the extensive development works undertaken in the Kolathur constituency over the past five years. These projects include the establishment of a mini stadium at GKM Colony, upgraded hospital facilities at Periyar Nagar, marriage halls, dialysis and rehabilitation centres, parks, sports infrastructure, libraries, and housing for the urban poor.

He emphasized that similar initiatives are being implemented across Tamil Nadu under the Dravidian model, a governance framework focused on social justice, equity, and inclusive growth. This model aims to ensure that development benefits reach all sections of society, particularly marginalized communities.

The inauguration event underscores the state government's commitment to improving educational infrastructure, public amenities, and social welfare programs. By investing in such projects, the administration seeks to foster a conducive environment for learning, health, and overall community well-being, aligning with broader goals of sustainable urban development and economic progress.
