Sunetra Pawar Holds First Public Interaction, Pledges to Honor Late Husband's Commitments

In a significant gathering at Sahyog Society in Baramati on Saturday, hundreds of residents from Baramati and adjoining areas converged at the residence of Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar. The crowd urged her to fulfill the promises made by her late husband, Ajit Pawar, who tragically died in a plane crash on January 28.

Continuing a Legacy of Public Engagement

Visitors flocking to Sahyog Society, especially on weekends, has long been a familiar scene in Baramati. Ajit Pawar, known for his hands-on approach, would personally meet each visitor and strive to resolve their issues. Following his untimely demise, Sunetra Pawar, who succeeded him as deputy chief minister and Pune guardian minister, has continued this tradition. This Saturday marked her first such interaction with citizens after assuming her ministerial charge, where she met several people individually to address their concerns.

Citizens Recall Unfulfilled Promises

Among the attendees were individuals who had previously met Ajit Pawar for personal matters. They recounted that the late Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief had asked them to wait, as he could not make certain decisions due to the model code of conduct in place for the civic polls. This delay left many hopeful for resolution under Sunetra's leadership.

Divyangs Seek Housing Assistance

A notable group of Divyangs from Pune district met Sunetra Pawar to request housing support. One visitor shared, "We met Ajit Pawar on January 26 to appeal for help in securing homes through the government quota for Divyangs in the district. He assured us of assistance once the code of conduct was lifted. Tragically, the plane crash occurred just two days later. Today, when we met Sunetra Vahini, she assured us that she would fulfill Ajit Dada's promise." This assurance brought a sense of relief to the community members seeking stable housing solutions.

Post-Interaction Administrative Meeting

After her engagement with the citizens, Sunetra Pawar chaired a meeting with newly elected Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti members from Baramati and Indapur tehsil. The session was attended by Cabinet Minister Dattatray Bharne and NCP (SP)'s senior member Harshvardhan Patil, highlighting the collaborative efforts in local governance.

This event underscores Sunetra Pawar's commitment to upholding her husband's legacy and addressing public grievances in Pune district, as she steps into her new role with a focus on continuity and community service.
