The main accused in the Surya Chauhan murder case, identified as Asad, was killed in a police encounter in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. According to police officials, Asad had been on the run since the stabbing incident on May 28 that resulted in Surya Chauhan's death. A reward of Rs 50,000 had been announced for any information leading to his arrest.
Details of the Encounter
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Dhawal Jaiswal stated that police received intelligence inputs indicating that Asad was planning to meet his associates in the Khoda area before fleeing further. Acting on this tip-off, police teams set up checkpoints and attempted to intercept him. Officials claim that Asad and an accomplice arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire when instructed to stop, prompting retaliatory action by law enforcement. Asad sustained injuries during the exchange of fire and was rushed to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his wounds. A police constable was also injured in the operation.
Recovery of Weapons
Police recovered a motorcycle and a pistol allegedly used by Asad from the scene. Authorities have stated that further investigation is underway to uncover the full extent of the conspiracy and identify any other individuals involved in the crime.
Mother's Reaction
Reacting to the development, Surya's mother, Saroj, expressed a desire to see concrete proof of Asad's death. She demanded that strict action be taken against all those responsible for her son's murder. “The fight for justice continues,” she said, emphasizing that the family will not rest until every perpetrator is brought to book.
The incident has once again highlighted the issue of rising crimes in the region, with locals calling for enhanced security measures. Police have assured that all angles are being probed and that no stone will be left unturned in ensuring justice for the victim's family.
