Tamil Nadu Government Assures Adequate Fuel Supply for Buses
Transport Minister S S Sivasankar has affirmed that there is a sufficient stock of fuel required for government buses in the state. He made this statement while addressing reporters after laying the foundation stone for new sub-stations valued at Rs 13.77 crore in Silal and Kumilankuzhi villages within Ariyalur district.
Proactive Measures for Summer Power Demand
In response to the anticipated increase in electricity consumption during the summer months, Sivasankar detailed that steps are being actively taken to procure additional power. He emphasized that Tangedco, the state's electricity distribution company, has planned well in advance to meet these seasonal demands.
"Measures for additional power procurement have been initiated, and steps have been taken to ensure there are no power cuts at any time," the minister stated, highlighting the government's commitment to uninterrupted power supply.
Contingency Planning Amid Global Tensions
When questioned about potential impacts from ongoing international conflicts, such as the Israel-Iran war, Sivasankar noted that while current fuel stocks are adequate, further consultations will be held if the situation escalates. "Currently, sufficient fuel stock is available for govt buses. If the war continues, further consultations will be held and appropriate actions taken," he explained, indicating a readiness to adapt to changing circumstances.
Infrastructure Development and Public Services Expansion
During the event, Sivasankar also laid the foundation stone for a branch of the primary agricultural cooperative credit service society in Vaanathirayanpattinam village. Additionally, he flagged off services for 26 new buses on fresh routes, enhancing public transportation connectivity in the region.
The ceremony was attended by MLAs K Chinnappa and Ka.So.Ka. Kannan, along with officials from various departments, underscoring the collaborative effort in advancing state infrastructure and services.
