Tejashwi Yadav Launches Scathing Attack on NDA's Bihar Government Formation
In a sharp critique of the political developments in Bihar, Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Sunday mocked the National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) efforts to establish a new government in the state. Speaking to reporters in Patna, Yadav asserted that regardless of who assumes the chief minister's position, they would be operating without a genuine public mandate.
"Remote Control" Government Allegations
Yadav dismissed the significance of the next chief minister's identity, stating it "doesn't hold any meaning" as the decision would be made by "two persons" operating from Delhi. He alleged the state government would function through "remote control," with key decisions being dictated externally rather than emerging from democratic processes within Bihar.
"The question of who becomes the next CM is meaningless because it will be decided by two individuals in Delhi," Yadav declared, emphasizing his belief that the removal of Nitish Kumar was orchestrated from the national capital.
Governance Paralysis and Public Disinterest
The opposition leader painted a grim picture of administrative stagnation, claiming that no cabinet meeting had been conducted in the past two months. He accused the state government of moving "backwards" and asserted that Bihar's citizens had lost interest in the political maneuvering.
"But whoever becomes the next CM, the people of Bihar are least interested," Yadav stated, adding that the incoming chief minister would not enjoy legitimate public support or a democratic mandate.
Historical Context and Political Analysis
Yadav provided historical context to the current situation, suggesting that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had long anticipated his removal from power. This apprehension, according to Yadav, prompted Kumar's exit from the NDA in 2022 when he joined the Grand Alliance.
"That was the reason he walked out of the NDA and joined the Grand Alliance in 2022. Just note JD(U) is now finished," Yadav remarked, while expressing sympathy for what he described as the "farewell" to a leader who had served for two decades.
Criticism of Rapid Government Changes
The opposition leader voiced strong disapproval of the frequent political shifts, questioning how a government could be replaced by another within just two to three months. He specifically targeted Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) president Chirag Paswan, alleging the leader's actions were motivated by self-preservation rather than public service.
"Ab 2-3 mahinon mein sarkar, sarkar ko badalkar naya sarkar bana rahi hai. Aisa sune the?" Yadav questioned, highlighting the instability he perceives in Bihar's political landscape.
Allegations of Financial Mismanagement
Yadav further accused the administration of wasting public funds through unjustified expenditures. He cited the example of over Rs 158 crore being spent on musical instruments for schools despite a critical shortage of trained music teachers.
"This expenditure is completely unjustified when there are no qualified teachers to utilize these instruments," Yadav argued, framing it as emblematic of broader governance failures.
The opposition leader's comprehensive critique underscores the deepening political tensions in Bihar as the NDA works to establish a new government amid questions about legitimacy, governance, and public mandate.
