The leaders of the Telangana government employees, officers, teachers, workers, and pensioners' Joint Action Committee (JAC) announced on Sunday that out of the total 63 demands placed before the state government, 26 have already been fulfilled either fully or partially. They expressed optimism that the remaining 37 demands would also be addressed positively by the government.
CM's Assurance on Joint Staff Council Meetings
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy assured the JAC that clear directives would be issued to the chief secretary to ensure that a joint staff council meeting with senior officials is mandatorily held once every two months. The reports of these meetings would be brought to the chief minister's notice, said JAC leaders Maram Jagadishwar and Eluri Sreenivasa Rao.
JAC Thanks CM and Deputy CM
The JAC also expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka for agreeing to implement four major demands. These include the Pay Revision Commission (PRC) and Dearness Allowance (DA), health cards, the release of pending arrears amounting to Rs 6,000 crore within 100 days, and examining the possibility of reverting to the old pension scheme.
Proposal to Streamline Promotions
To prevent delays in granting promotions to employees, the JAC proposed that the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) consider all vacancies arising between September 1 and August 31 every year and approve them in a single consolidated session. Eluri Sreenivasa Rao explained, 'This approach eliminates the need to convene a new DPC every time a vacancy arises, thereby ensuring that eligible employees receive their promotions promptly. We appeal to the higher authorities to take special initiative to expedite this process.'
