This initiative will run from March 13 to March 15, ensuring smooth travel for commuters across the state and to neighboring regions.
Detailed Schedule of Special Bus Operations
The transport authorities have meticulously planned the deployment of special buses to cater to the expected high demand. On Saturday, March 14, the number of special buses will increase to 325, providing enhanced connectivity. Additionally, from the Koyambedu terminus in Chennai, buses will be operated to Tiruvannamalai, Nagapattinam, Velankanni, Hosur, and Bengaluru. For this route, 55 special buses are scheduled each on both Friday and Saturday.
Additional Services and Return Trip Arrangements
To further accommodate the passenger influx, the corporation will operate 100 special buses originating from Bengaluru, Tirupur, Erode, and Coimbatore, traveling to various destinations across Tamil Nadu. From Madhavaram in Chennai, 20 special buses will be deployed on March 13 and 14.
Officials have also confirmed that special buses will be operated on Sunday, March 15, based on passenger demand. This service is specifically designed to assist travelers in returning to Chennai and Bengaluru from their hometowns, ensuring a hassle-free journey back after the weekend.
High Passenger Demand and Booking Statistics
The need for these additional services is underscored by substantial advance bookings. Transport authorities reported that 10,774 passengers have already secured tickets for Friday, 4,682 for Saturday, and 9,663 for Sunday. These figures highlight the anticipated heavy movement and the corporation's proactive measures to manage it effectively.
This strategic deployment of special buses aims to prevent overcrowding, reduce wait times, and enhance overall travel convenience during the busy weekend period. Passengers are encouraged to plan their trips in advance and utilize these additional services for a smoother travel experience.
