In anticipation of the vote counting for the local body elections, the Pimpri Chinchwad police have announced a series of significant traffic diversions affecting key areas. The restrictions will be in force from midnight on Thursday until 8 PM on Sunday, impacting movement in Talegaon, Dighi, Chakan, and Alandi.
Key Traffic Restrictions and Road Closures
The police have released a detailed plan to manage vehicular flow during this critical period. One of the major restrictions will be on the movement of vehicles between Jijamata Chowk and Talegaon Station Chowk. Furthermore, no vehicles will be permitted to travel from the Adarsh Vidyalaya Gate towards the premises of the New Talegaon Municipal Council.
Traffic originating from Chakan Gaothan and Mahatma Phule Chowk will face a prohibition on heading towards the Market Yard and Market Yard Chowk. This is expected to significantly alter the usual routes for commuters and commercial vehicles in the industrial belt.
Diversions for Outskirts and Connecting Routes
The diversions extend to the connecting roads from surrounding villages. Vehicles approaching from Markal village will not be allowed to proceed towards the Yogiraj Chowk–Dehuphata Chowk stretch or towards Pune via Markal Chowk.
Similarly, entry will be restricted for vehicles coming from Vadgaon Ghenand that are headed towards Pune and Chakan. In a comprehensive measure, all types of vehicles will be barred from travelling from Dehuphata Chowk to Yogiraj Chowk in the direction of Alandi, Chakan, or Wadgaon Ghenand.
Impact and Commuter Advisory
The three-day traffic plan is a proactive step by the police to ensure law and order and smooth facilitation of the vote counting process for the local body elections. Residents, daily commuters, and transporters are strongly advised to plan their journeys in advance, considering these extensive diversions.
Motorists should seek alternative routes and expect delays in the mentioned corridors. The police are likely to deploy additional personnel to manage the flow and assist the public. The restrictions underscore the administrative focus on maintaining a secure environment for the democratic process, albeit with temporary inconvenience to the public.
