The Trichy district administration has announced traffic diversions for buses and heavy vehicles ahead of Chief Minister Joseph Vijay's visit to the city on Monday. The chief minister is scheduled to arrive in Trichy around 4 pm and proceed to St. Joseph's College in Chathiram bus stand to address the public.
Traffic Restrictions Timeline
According to officials, restrictions for city and mofussil buses will be in effect from 10 am, while diversions for heavy vehicles will be enforced from 7 am. The measures aim to ensure smooth movement during the chief minister's visit.
Bus Route Diversions
City buses operating from the central bus stand and Thiruverumbur towards Chathiram bus stand will be diverted via Marakkadai. Buses will drop passengers near the Gandhi statue at Main Guard gate and continue through Melachintamani Road. Buses arriving from Thiruvanaikoil will terminate at Mambalasalai.
Buses from Karur Road will be routed to the central bus stand through Shastri Road. Similarly, buses from Cuddalore, Perambalur, and Ariyalur will be directed to the central bus stand via Kollidam Bypass Road through Thiruvanaikoil. No buses will be allowed to enter Chathiram bus stand during the restricted period.
Heavy Vehicle Diversions
Heavy vehicles travelling from Madurai towards Chennai will be diverted from Thuvarankurichi through Manapparai, Kulithalai, and Musiri. Vehicles from Dindigul heading to Chennai will be routed via Perambalur. Heavy vehicles moving between Chennai and southern districts will be diverted through Perambalur, Musiri, Kulithalai, and Manapparai.
Vehicles bound for Thanjavur and Pudukkottai will be diverted via Ariyalur and Perambalur, while trucks from Pudukkottai to Chennai will be routed through Thanjavur, Ariyalur, and Perambalur. Traffic between Karur and Thanjavur will also be diverted via alternative routes through Ariyalur, Perambalur, Musiri, and Kulithalai.
Drone Ban
The administration has also banned the use of drones on Monday to ensure security during the chief minister's visit.
