A container truck met with an accident while approaching the Saraighat bridge in Guwahati during the early hours of Wednesday after reportedly losing its balance. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported in the incident, but the driver and the handyman sustained injuries and were later hospitalized, according to the police.

According to traffic officials, the truck was traveling from the Amingaon side and heading towards Jalukbari when the driver lost control just before entering the bridge. This caused the vehicle to veer off its course and fall. A traffic officer from the Jalukbari Police Station stated, "We found that the driver was extremely tired and lost balance. A police team reached the spot and launched a rescue operation."
Rescue and Medical Response
The driver and the handyman were rescued from the wreckage and immediately rushed to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital. Their condition has been reported as stable by medical authorities.
Traffic Impact
The accident led to temporary traffic congestion on the Saraighat bridge as rescue and recovery operations were carried out. Police personnel regulated traffic movement to prevent further disruption. The traffic official added, "There was no other vehicle involved in the accident."
