Trichy Police File Case Against TVK Women Cadres for Disrupting Officer During Vijay's Campaign Event

In a significant development, the Trichy airport police have officially registered a case against three unidentified women cadres belonging to the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) political party. The charges stem from an incident where these individuals allegedly created a public disturbance and actively prevented a police officer from carrying out his official duties.

Incident Details from Vijay's Trichy Roadshow

The confrontation occurred on the evening of April 19, a Sunday, during a high-profile campaign event and roadshow organized by actor-politician and TVK leader, Vijay. According to the official police complaint filed by Sub-Inspector (SSI) Arasu, who is attached to the Cantonment traffic police unit, the situation unfolded at the RS Puram junction in Trichy.

SSI Arasu reported that three women arrived at the junction on a two-wheeler vehicle. Due to partial road closures in the area related to the political event, the officer instructed them to use an alternate route for safety and traffic management purposes. Instead of complying, the women allegedly responded by verbally abusing the officer using obscene and offensive language.

Viral Video Leads to Police Action

The entire altercation was captured on video and subsequently went viral across various social media platforms, drawing significant public attention. The widespread circulation of the footage prompted the Trichy airport police to take formal legal action against the unidentified women.

A formal case has been registered under specific sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The charges include Section 296(b), which pertains to committing an obscene act in a public place, and Section 132, which addresses obstructing a public servant in the discharge of their public functions. These legal provisions highlight the seriousness with which authorities are treating the incident, emphasizing both the public order violation and the direct interference with law enforcement duties.

The police investigation is currently ongoing to identify the three women involved. This incident underscores the heightened tensions and strict security protocols often surrounding major political rallies and campaign events in the region. It also raises questions about party discipline and the conduct of political workers during public engagements.
