Tragedy Strikes as Two Young Students Drown in Coimbatore Lake
In a heartbreaking incident, two 11-year-old students lost their lives by drowning while fishing in the Kannampalayam lake located near Sulur in Coimbatore district on Thursday. The victims have been identified as R Sujith Kumar and Y Pradosh, both residents of TVK Nagar in Kannampalayam, close to Sulur.
Details of the Fatal Incident
The boys, who were studying in Class VI at a private school in Sulur, had their school timings shifted to the afternoon due to ongoing public examinations. Taking advantage of the morning free time, they left their homes around 9 am on Thursday, informing their parents they were going out to play. However, when they failed to return by 1 pm, their families grew concerned and initiated a search.
Meanwhile, local residents discovered the bodies of two young boys floating in the Kannampalayam lake and immediately alerted the Sulur police. Fire and rescue services personnel were swiftly deployed to the scene to retrieve the bodies. Preliminary verification confirmed that the deceased were the missing boys, and it was determined that they had drowned in the lake.
Response and Investigation
The bodies were recovered and sent to the ESI Government Medical College Hospital for a postmortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death. Authorities have registered a case in connection with the incident, and further investigation is currently underway to gather more details about the circumstances leading to the tragedy.
