Tragic Drowning Incident Claims Lives of Two Young Brothers in Jharkhand
In a deeply sorrowful event that has shaken the community, two young brothers lost their lives after drowning in the sacred Ganges River in Sahibganj district, Jharkhand. The incident occurred on Thursday evening, casting a pall of grief over their family and the entire village.
Details of the Heartbreaking Incident
The victims have been identified as Aryan Kumar, aged 8, and his younger brother Raghav, aged 6. The siblings had recently arrived with their parents from Mumbai to their native Sarakanda village, located under the jurisdiction of the Rajmahal police station. Their visit was timed around the Holi festival, a period typically filled with joy and celebration.
The boys' father, Setu Chaurasiya, works as a migrant laborer, highlighting the family's modest background. On Thursday afternoon, the brothers went missing while playing near their home. As evening fell, concern grew, leading to a frantic search by family members and local villagers.
Discovery and Recovery Efforts
Around 9 PM, the search took a grim turn when the children's clothes were discovered at the nearby Namami Gange Ghat. This discovery prompted immediate diving operations throughout the night in the hope of finding the boys alive. However, the efforts proved unsuccessful in the darkness.
The following morning, on Friday, the bodies of Aryan and Raghav were found floating in the Ganges, approximately 150 meters away from their village. The recovery was made near the same ghat where their clothes had been located.
Official Response and Investigation
Hasnain Ansari, the officer-in-charge of Rajmahal police station, confirmed the tragic outcome. "The bodies were recovered from the river on Friday morning," he stated. In response to the incident, the police have registered a case of unnatural death to initiate a formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the drowning.
This tragedy underscores the persistent dangers posed by water bodies, especially to young children, and has left the local community in mourning. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the need for increased safety measures and vigilance near rivers and ghats.
