Patna: In a tragic incident in Nawada district, two brothers were stabbed to death on Monday, allegedly as a fallout of a six-month-old molestation case involving their cousin sister. The attack also left three others, including a woman and a man, seriously injured. They were subsequently referred to Patna for advanced medical treatment. The incident occurred in Chhoti Pali village, which falls under the Narhat police station area.
Background of the Case
According to police, the cousin sister of the deceased was allegedly molested by a youth from the accused family approximately six months ago. Following the incident, the victim's family lodged a formal police complaint. The accused youth was arrested by police on Monday while he was allegedly attempting to surrender in court. Enraged by the arrest, members of the accused's family reportedly attacked the victim girl's relatives, resulting in the deaths.
Victims Identified
The deceased were identified as Mohammad Kashif, 22, and Mohammad Ahmad, 21. Their cousin, Mohammad Danish, stated that the family had been receiving threats ever since the case was filed. "We opposed it and filed a case against the accused. The accused went to jail in that case. Today, angry over the case and jail term, the accused carried out the attack," he said. Danish further added, "We got a threat just an hour before the incident on Monday that I would be killed." According to Danish, 5-6 individuals armed with knives launched the assault. "Kashif and Ahmad died. A third person, Mohammad Atif, was also injured when he tried to save them," he said.
Police Response
Police reported that the main accused, Mohammad Fayum, had gone to court on Monday morning to seek bail but was arrested during the process. Nawada Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhinav Dhiman stated that police had been conducting raids in connection with the molestation case registered in December. "Due to pressure from the raids, accused Mohammad Fayum surrendered in court today. He was being sent to judicial custody. Meanwhile, the accused's family attacked the girl's two brothers with knives and killed them," he said.

Authorities have launched a thorough investigation into the incident. Additional police forces have been deployed in the area to maintain law and order. The injured individuals are receiving medical care, and efforts are underway to apprehend all those involved in the attack.
