Tragic Lake Incident in Kudligi Claims Two Lives, Leaves Four in Critical Condition
A devastating incident unfolded at Gandabommanahalli lake in Kudligi taluk of Vijayanagara district, where two women tragically drowned and four others were left in critical condition. The group, consisting of family members, had gone for a swim after attending a local fair, leading to this heartbreaking accident.

According to police reports, the tragedy occurred when more than ten members of a single family, including four children, visited the lake after their meal. They had just returned from attending the Durugamma Devi fair in Gudekote village. While swimming in the lake, two women, identified as Sarojamma Vaddar, 35, and Sujatha, 28, both residents of Gudekote, drowned and subsequently died.
Rescue Efforts and Hospitalization
Four other women were rescued from the water and immediately admitted to the Kudligi government hospital for urgent medical attention. The rescued individuals are Shravani, 20, Bhumika, 20, Anita, 26, and Sangeetha, 18. After receiving initial treatment, they were shifted to the Ballari BIMS Hospital for further specialized care, where they remain in critical condition.
