The villagers were returning from Orchha village to Sirsiguda after attending a wedding when the tragedy struck. According to preliminary reports, the driver lost control of the speeding pickup, causing it to overturn on the road. The violent impact threw passengers in different directions, creating a scene of chaos and distress.
The immediate aftermath was marked by panic and desperate cries for help, which alerted nearby villagers. They rushed to the accident site and began pulling out the injured before police and ambulance teams could arrive. Their quick response likely prevented further casualties.
Victims Identified, Overloading Suspected
The two women who died at the scene have been identified as 45-year-old Sulo Mandavi and 50-year-old Mitko Mandavi. Police have registered a case of accidental death and launched a formal investigation into the crash.
While the exact cause is still under investigation, initial findings point toward severe overloading and a subsequent loss of balance as probable contributing factors. The pickup vehicle, designed for goods transport, was carrying far more passengers than safely permissible.

Police officials noted that villagers traveling from remote areas to nearby villages for weddings often resort to using pickup vehicles or tractors for transportation. They have issued a stern warning, urging people to avoid such risky travel arrangements.

In response to these accidents, authorities have announced stricter enforcement. Police stated that if any overcrowded vehicles are spotted on the roads, passengers will be immediately asked to disembark, and legal action will be taken against the driver.
