Udhayanidhi Stalin Launches Political Attack While Campaigning in Coimbatore
Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin delivered a fiery campaign speech in Coimbatore on Friday, directly targeting former Chief Minister and AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami. During his address in the Kinathukadavu constituency, Udhayanidhi made pointed remarks about political conduct and loyalty.
Sharp Criticism of Political Opponents
Udhayanidhi Stalin declared that he had no personal experience with what he described as "falling at someone's feet to gain political power" or "acting as a slave to the BJP." To emphasize his point, he displayed an old photograph showing Palaniswami bowing at the feet of V K Sasikala, creating a visual contrast between different political approaches.
The deputy chief minister was campaigning for DMK candidate K V K Sabari Karthikeyan, using the opportunity to draw clear distinctions between his party's approach and that of their opponents.
Promoting the Dravidian Model of Governance
Udhayanidhi devoted significant portions of his speech to highlighting what he termed the successful achievements of the current DMK government. He framed the upcoming assembly election as a crucial mandate to continue what he called the "Dravidian model" of governance, suggesting this approach has brought tangible benefits to Tamil Nadu residents.
He specifically mentioned several key initiatives:
- Expansion of women's financial assistance: The monthly financial assistance scheme for women would be broadened to include more households across the state
- Chief Minister's Breakfast Scheme: Udhayanidhi emphasized that this program has significantly improved school attendance rates throughout Tamil Nadu
- Local development projects: He pointed to specific initiatives implemented in Kinathukadavu, including a jewellery park, a hostel for laborers at SIDCO, and various infrastructure improvements
Electoral Appeals and Predictions
The deputy chief minister made a direct appeal to voters, asking them to deliver what he called a massive victory for the DMK's rising sun symbol. He framed the choice clearly, stating that every vote for the DMK candidate would essentially be a vote supporting Chief Minister M K Stalin's leadership and vision for the state.
Udhayanidhi expressed ambitious electoral goals, stating that the DMK aims to secure all ten assembly seats in the Coimbatore region. He referenced the previous election results, noting that the party had lost the Kinathukadavu constituency by only a narrow margin. This time, he predicted that candidate Sabari should win by more than 50,000 votes, indicating confidence in both the candidate and the party's growing support in the area.
The campaign event served multiple purposes: attacking political opponents, promoting government achievements, outlining future plans, and mobilizing voter support ahead of crucial elections in Tamil Nadu.
