Uttar Pradesh Roadways Expands Holi Services with Additional Buses and Strict Safety Protocols
The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has announced a significant enhancement of its bus services to accommodate the surge in passenger demand during the Holi festival period. From February 28 to March 9, the corporation will operate additional buses on key routes and increase the frequency of existing services to ensure smooth and efficient travel for commuters.
Increased Connectivity and Fleet Deployment
To manage the expected rise in travelers, UPSRTC will deploy extra buses on various routes across the state. Major cities such as Lucknow and Kanpur will see a notable increase in bus availability. Additionally, there will be enhanced services from Delhi to eastern Uttar Pradesh, catering to the large number of people traveling to their hometowns for the festive celebrations.
Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh has directed the corporation to maximize the utilization of its fleet. He emphasized that all available buses should be pressed into service to meet the heightened demand. Every bus operating during this period will be equipped with an electronic ticketing machine to streamline the booking process and reduce waiting times for passengers.
Comprehensive Safety Measures Implemented
In a bid to ensure passenger safety and reduce road accidents, the transport department has rolled out a series of stringent measures. Field officers will conduct special checks on all main routes, national highways, and state highways to enforce road safety regulations strictly.
Key safety initiatives include:
- Regular breathalyser tests for drivers to prevent drunk driving.
- Mandatory presence of two drivers in every long-distance bus to avoid fatigue-related issues.
- Special drives to inspect and restrict the carrying of gas cylinders or other inflammable substances on buses.
Minister Singh stated that if any bus is found violating safety norms, alternate transport arrangements will be made immediately for the affected passengers. This proactive approach aims to minimize disruptions and ensure a secure journey for all.
Enhanced Passenger Amenities and Coordination
Beyond safety, the corporation is also focusing on improving passenger comfort and convenience. In coordination with district administrations, arrangements will be made for clean and hygienic food and water at bus stations and parking sites along the routes. This initiative is designed to provide travelers with essential amenities during their journey, especially given the long distances many will cover.
The holistic plan underscores UPSRTC's commitment to facilitating a hassle-free and safe travel experience during one of the busiest festive seasons in the state. By combining increased operational capacity with robust safety protocols and passenger-focused amenities, the corporation aims to handle the Holi rush effectively while prioritizing the well-being of commuters.
