Uttar Pradesh Budget 2026-27 Prioritizes Law and Order with Massive ₹44,000 Crore Allocation

In a significant move aimed at bolstering public safety, the Uttar Pradesh government has presented its budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 in the State Assembly, earmarking a substantial sum of more than ₹44,000 crore specifically for strengthening law and order and advancing modern policing initiatives across the state.

Focus on Technology-Driven Policing and Cyber Security

The budget outlines key provisions designed to transform policing through technology. These include the modernization of cyber police stations, the establishment of a dedicated cyber security operations centre, and the strengthening of digital and forensic investigation systems. Additionally, forensic science laboratories will see expansion and upgradation, with enhanced support for scientific investigation methods to improve crime-solving capabilities.

Director General of Police (DGP) Rajeev Krishna expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for this substantial allocation, stating that it will inject fresh momentum into smart, technology-driven, and modern policing efforts. He emphasized that this funding is crucial for keeping pace with evolving criminal tactics in the digital age.

Enhanced Women's Safety and Emergency Response Systems

Women's safety receives a major boost under this budget. As part of Mission Shakti, new vehicles will be provided to women beat personnel to improve their field mobility and outreach, ensuring better protection and community engagement. Furthermore, the UP-112 emergency response fleet will be expanded, aiming to reduce response times and enhance service delivery across all districts, making emergency assistance more accessible and efficient.

Strengthening Disaster Preparedness and Urban Safety

Beyond policing, the budget also addresses disaster management and urban safety. New teams of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) will be constituted, and fire services will be further strengthened. These measures are intended to enhance disaster preparedness and bolster urban safety infrastructure, ensuring quicker and more effective responses during emergencies.

A Historic Step Towards a Safer Uttar Pradesh

DGP Rajeev Krishna described the allocation as a historic step that lays a strong foundation for achieving the vision of a "Safe and Prosperous Uttar Pradesh". He highlighted that this budget reinforces the government's unwavering commitment to citizen security, rapid response mechanisms, and modern law enforcement practices. By investing in these areas, the state aims to create a more secure environment conducive to growth and development.

The comprehensive approach of the budget, covering cyber security, women's safety, emergency services, and disaster management, underscores a holistic strategy to address various aspects of public safety. This move is expected to significantly improve the quality of life for residents and foster a sense of security across Uttar Pradesh.
