UP Girl Punches Crocodile in Eye, Survives Attack

A 15-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh's Balrampur district survived a crocodile attack by punching the reptile in the eye, according to officials. The incident took place on Tuesday evening when the girl, identified as Priya, was bathing in a river along with her friends.

The Attack

Suddenly, a crocodile emerged from the water and grabbed Priya's leg. In a swift reaction, she punched the crocodile in its eye, causing it to release her. The crocodile then retreated into the water, leaving Priya with injuries on her leg.

Her friends rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she received treatment. Doctors said her condition was stable and she was out of danger. The injuries were not life-threatening.

Reaction from Officials

Local forest department officials visited the hospital and assured the family of all possible help. They also warned locals about the presence of crocodiles in the river and advised them to avoid bathing there.

This is not the first such incident in the area. In recent years, several crocodile attacks have been reported from the region, which is home to a significant population of the reptiles.

The girl's bravery has been praised by villagers and officials alike. Her father said, "We are proud of her presence of mind. She saved her own life."
