The Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) has stated that it has not ignored Vijay's request for support to form the government under the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) banner. The party is expected to take a final decision on extending its support to the TVK-led government soon.
Current Political Situation in Tamil Nadu
Although the Congress, which has five MLAs in the state assembly, has already extended its support to TVK, the party still remains short of the 118-seat majority mark required to form a stable government. The TVK, led by actor-turned-politician Vijay, is now reaching out to other parties to garner the necessary numbers.
VCK's Stance
A senior VCK leader confirmed that the party is carefully considering Vijay's request. "We have not ignored his request. Our internal discussions are underway, and we will announce our decision at the appropriate time," the leader said. The VCK, which has a significant presence in northern Tamil Nadu, could provide crucial support to TVK.
Congress Support Already Secured
The Congress party, with its five MLAs, has already pledged support to TVK. However, this alone is not enough to reach the majority mark. The TVK is now in talks with other smaller parties and independents to strengthen its position.
Next Steps
Political analysts believe that the VCK's decision could be pivotal in determining the future of the TVK government. If the VCK extends its support, it would bring the TVK closer to the required majority. Meanwhile, the TVK leadership remains confident of forming a government with the backing of like-minded parties.
