DMK MP R Girirajan has approached the Madras High Court, seeking a directive for the Enforcement Directorate to register a report under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. This plea is based on pending cases against Velumani. Girirajan's submission references four FIRs registered by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) against Velumani. These allege irregularities during his tenure as the Municipal Administration Minister, including accusations of corruption related to tender processes in the Chennai and Coimbatore corporations. The plea is currently pending before the first bench of the High Court, headed by Chief Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari.
