AICC's Venugopal Declares Kerala Election as Final Bell for Pinarayi Government
In a strongly worded statement, AICC general secretary K C Venugopal has characterized the upcoming Kerala election as the "final bell" for the Pinarayi Vijayan-led government and the "opening note" for a United Democratic Front (UDF) regime. Venugopal, who is also the Alappuzha MP, expressed unwavering confidence in a UDF victory, asserting that it would bring much-needed relief to the state after what he described as a decade of "misrule."
Allegations of Power Retention Attempts and Communal Alliances
Venugopal took to social media to allege that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has been attempting to cling to power by forging understandings with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and other communal groups. However, he claimed that such efforts are doomed to fail in Kerala's political landscape. "Even they have realised that it's time to say goodbye," Venugopal stated, suggesting that these groups recognize the impending change in governance.
Warning of Continued Failures Under Current Regime
Highlighting what he termed as the "failures" of the current government, Venugopal issued a stark warning about the consequences if the regime continues. He predicted that backdoor appointments would be regularized, controversial policy decisions would be implemented, and public healthcare institutions would deteriorate further. Additionally, he alleged that the state's financial condition would worsen, with profligacy in governance persisting unchecked.
Rising Cost of Living and Suppression of Legal Cases
Venugopal further claimed that the cost of living would rise sharply under continued Left Democratic Front (LDF) rule, with increases in house tax, property tax, electricity charges, medical expenses, and bus fares. He also raised serious concerns about the suppression of multiple legal cases that could potentially be filed against the chief minister, alleging that such cases are being actively stifled to protect those in power.
Accusations of Corruption and Safety Failures
The AICC leader accused the government of enabling corruption within cooperative institutions and failing to curb rising incidents such as wildlife attacks. He also expressed deep concerns over women's safety, alleging that cases involving party members are not dealt with seriously and that perpetrators are being shielded from justice. These issues, according to Venugopal, reflect a broader pattern of governance failures.
Confidence in Electoral Verdict Against Misgovernance
Reiterating his stance, Venugopal emphasized that the electorate would not allow a continuation of what he described as "10 years of misgovernance." He expressed strong confidence that voters would deliver a clear verdict in favor of the UDF, bringing an end to the current administration's tenure. This election, he asserted, represents a critical turning point for Kerala's future, with the UDF poised to usher in a new era of relief and reform.
