In a significant political move, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay unveiled a detailed set of election promises during the party's Women's Day event held in Chennai on Saturday. Financial Assistance and Household Support Programs
Vijay declared that his party would provide Rs 2,500 every month to women heads of families below 60 years of age. This financial assistance program specifically excludes families of state and central government employees, targeting those in greater need of economic support. Additionally, he announced that each eligible family would receive six LPG cylinders free of cost annually, aiming to alleviate household energy expenses.
Under the newly proposed "Annan Seer" marriage assistance scheme, the government would provide eight grams of gold and a silk sari for women's marriages. This initiative seeks to reduce the financial burden on families during wedding ceremonies, a culturally significant event in Tamil society.

The TVK leader introduced the "Kamarajar Education Assurance scheme," which promises Rs 15,000 per year as financial assistance to prevent school dropouts among students from Class IX to XII. This educational support aims to improve retention rates and academic completion among adolescent learners.

Under the "Singa Pengal development scheme," women self-help groups would receive interest-free loans up to Rs 5 lakh to operate micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). This economic empowerment initiative aims to foster female entrepreneurship and financial independence.
Regarding health and hygiene, Vijay announced that free sanitary pads would be distributed through ration shops and educational institutions, addressing menstrual health needs across different demographics.
The "Thaai Maaman" scheme promises that every baby girl born in Tamil Nadu would receive a gold ring along with a welcome kit containing essential items for newborn care, symbolizing both celebration and practical support for new parents.

When questioned about how these extensive schemes would be funded given Tamil Nadu's rising debt burden, Vijay attributed the state's financial challenges to corruption rather than insufficient resources. He specifically referred to what he described as a "30% Stalin tax," alleging diversion of public funds under the current administration. "If we remove such corruption, everything will run properly," he asserted, suggesting that improved governance could finance the proposed welfare measures.
Regarding personal controversies that have surrounded his political career, Vijay addressed his supporters directly: "I see many of you getting hurt while fighting for it. I get hurt when I see that. I will deal with it. Let us together focus only on the people's problems. Don't feel discouraged as it is not worth it."
