Actor Vijay Launches Scathing Attack on DMK Alliance, Vows Whistle Revolution

In a fiery public address in Vellore on Monday, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) founder president and actor Vijay launched a blistering critique of the DMK-led alliance, branding it as 'kallapetti kootani' or petty cash box thief coalitions. He asserted that the DMK cannot secure victory in the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections through reliance on money and muscle power, framing the upcoming political battle as a direct contest between himself and Chief Minister M K Stalin.

Vijay Declares Himself Tamil Nadu's Whistle-Blower

Vijay positioned himself as Tamil Nadu's whistle-blower, calling for an end to what he described as an atrocious and evil regime. He emphasized that elections are the sole democratic means to achieve this change, stating, "The polls are the only way to do it... DMK cannot win polls with money and muscle power. It is a whistle revolution now." He highlighted TVK as a grassroots people's movement, with its whistle symbol representing a transformative revolution aimed at uprooting corruption and maladministration.

Direct Engagement and Governance Promises

Vijay outlined ambitious plans for direct public engagement and comprehensive governance reforms if TVK assumes power. He pledged to visit every village personally to connect with citizens, ensuring transparency and accountability. His promises include:

  • Enhanced Safety and Law Enforcement: Ensuring the safety of women and children, and maintaining robust law and order across the state.
  • Educational Improvements: Upgrading government schools and colleges, providing clean toilet facilities, and training students to excel in competitive examinations.
  • Economic and Social Welfare: Establishing welfare boards for unorganized workers such as auto, taxi, and lorry drivers, creating industrial hubs, and implementing targeted schemes for farmers, fishers, and weavers.
  • Gender Equality in Administration: Committing to reserve half of the district collector and Superintendent of Police (SP) positions for women to promote gender parity in leadership roles.
  • Drug-Free Initiative: Vowing to eradicate drug abuse and create a drug-free Tamil Nadu through stringent measures and public awareness campaigns.

Criticism of DMK Government and Personal Challenges

Vijay did not hold back in his criticism of the incumbent DMK government, accusing it of failing to deliver on key promises, such as reverting to monthly electricity meter billing. He mockingly referred to Chief Minister Stalin as his "new friend" and questioned why the CM had blamed him for the tragic Karur stampede that resulted in 41 fatalities. Challenging politicians across the spectrum, Vijay demanded full transparency regarding their sources of wealth, urging them to disclose their financial dealings openly to the public.

Confidence in Victory and Public Support

Expressing unwavering confidence in TVK's prospects, Vijay assured supporters that good will prevail and victory is certain. He asserted that the people of Tamil Nadu are acutely aware of the corrupt forces opposing TVK, framing the electoral contest as a straightforward fight between the DMK and TVK. His rhetoric emphasized a grassroots-driven approach, with the whistle symbolizing a call to action for citizens to join the revolution against entrenched political corruption and inefficiency.
