Vijay Calls for Intensified Door-to-Door Campaigning Ahead of Polling
Actor-turned-politician Vijay has issued a strong appeal to his party cadres, urging them to ramp up door-to-door outreach efforts in the crucial final days before the elections. In a statement released on social media platform X, Vijay emphasized the importance of personal voter contact as the polling date approaches.
Campaign Schedule Adjustments and Cancellations
While calling for increased grassroots mobilization, Vijay has simultaneously cancelled several of his scheduled campaign appearances across Tamil Nadu. The politician was slated to campaign in Gummidipoondi within Thiruvallur district on Monday, but this programme has been officially cancelled. Additionally, a planned campaign event in Cuddalore on Saturday was also called off.
However, Vijay maintains his commitment to certain engagements, with a scheduled visit to Kanyakumari on Sunday. Sources have confirmed that permission has been granted for Vijay to hold a campaign event in Aranthangi on Tuesday between 3 pm and 7 pm, though this is subject to specific conditions being met.
Direct Appeal to Party Workers and Supporters
In his statement, Vijay made a direct appeal to all booth agents, party members of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), and supporters who hold deep affection for the movement. "As election day draws near, I have a request," he declared. "I call upon all booth agents, party members of TVK, and supporters—men and women who have deep affection for our movement—to step into the field and dedicate themselves to the task."
Vijay specifically urged cadres to intensify their outreach efforts over the next ten days, emphasizing the importance of personal connection with voters. "Go house-to-house in your respective localities to personally meet people, whom we regard as our own family," he instructed. "Appeal to them to vote for our candidates, identifying them by the ‘Whistle' symbol."
Recent Campaign Challenges
The call for intensified campaigning comes amid some logistical challenges in Vijay's recent election activities. On Friday, Vijay campaigned in Karaikudi within Sivaganga district but was unable to address the gathering as he arrived after the permitted time for public speeches had elapsed. This incident highlights the tight scheduling and regulatory constraints facing political campaigns during the election period.
The combination of cancelled appearances and the urgent call for grassroots mobilization suggests a strategic shift toward maximizing voter contact through party cadres rather than relying solely on large public rallies led by the leader himself.
