Vijay Holds Stocktaking Session After TN Polls, Calls It a Shift

Chennai: A day after the state assembly election, actor and TVK president Vijay held a stocktaking session with party seniors. He said the poll marked a crucial shift in Tamil Nadu politics and that this was only the beginning.

Vijay's Post on X

In a post on X on Friday, Vijay said the calculations of those who confined politics within boundaries, as if politics was only for superhumans and for the seasoned, has been shattered by the common people. "Youth and women, who were earlier assumed to not even care about politics, have begun to speak about politics," he said. Referring to turnout, he stated, "An 85% voter turnout is something Tamil Nadu has never seen before."

Change in Voting Patterns

He added that a large section of the voters chose not to visit polling booths all these years, but that has changed in this election. He thanked booth agents and party workers, saying they have responded to critics through action. "Let us remain hopeful. Victory is certain," he said.

Meeting with Party Functionaries

Vijay held a two-hour meeting with party functionaries at his Pattinapakkam office in the city. He sought region-wise polling data and advised functionaries to pursue complaints filed with the ECI on polling disruptions. "The discussions also focused on booth-level performance, turnout patterns and inputs from functionaries on ground-level issues reported during voting," said a functionary.

Attendance

The meeting was attended by party general secretary N Anand, chief coordinator Sengottaiyan, Aadhav Arjuna and political advisor John Arokiasamy.
